Now that we’ve looked at the skeletal structures and characteristics of organic molecules and also gotten acquainted with macromolecules, it’s time to put them together in this example.
First, here’s the molecule capsaicin. What parts of it are polar and nonpolar? Is the molecule overall hydrophilic or hydrophobic?
Next, take a look at this structure of TRVP1 from Wikipedia and then the 3D structure on the RCSB Protein Databank. What kind of macromacromolecule is TRPV1? What kind of macromolecules are surrounding it?
